I had a dream.
It was about Sleeping Beauty.
Let's start from the beginning...
I found myself walking into a room I had never seen before. There was a camera set up, and I saw several friends of mine dressed up as characters from various fairy tales-princes and princesses from our favorite childhood movies. We had all been cast, and we were gathered to film a performance. The Director was there to coach us.
However, when I looked around the room, and I noticed one princess was missing: Sleeping Beauty- Aurora.
Immediately, the Director took us to a scene he was directing in bright green woods. Sleeping Beauty was the star of the show. She was beautiful, happy, full of life. To my surprise, she started to sing a classic song by Billie Holiday,
"I'll be seeing you in all the old familiar places
that this heart of mine embraces..."
The Director stopped the action. It wasn't quite what he was looking for.
We suddenly switched to a new set in the middle of a snow blizzard.
This time, Sleeping Beauty was fighting to stay awake. She was lying in the snow, as the frost slowly stole her breath. With her strength slipping away, she began to sing again. It was like she was prophesying to herself to not give in to slumber, to live and not to die, as the cold fought to take her life. Her song became a whispered prayer, a declaration, that she would live to see the One she loves again...
'I'll be seeing you In all the old familiar places
That this heart of mine embraces
All day through
In that small cafe
The park across the way
The children's carousel
That chestnut tree,
the wishing well..."
"That's it!" the Director proclaimed. "That's what I am looking for!" I understood what the Director meant. We were all deeply moved, tears in our eyes.
I woke up with the song still resounding in my thoughts.
I felt the Lord there was a prophetic message in the dream.
Dream Interpretation:
Characters:
The fairytale characters represent our role as sons and daughters of God. We are princes and princesses in the Kingdom of God. We all have a part to play in God's story in this hour.
"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, to proclaim the virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."- 1 Peter 2:9
Sleeping Beauty represented the Church, the Bride of Jesus.
"For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns.
7Let us rejoice and be glad
and give Him the glory.
For the marriage of the Lamb has come,
and His bride has made herself ready.
8She was given clothing of fine linen,
bright and pure.”
For the fine linen she wears is the righteous acts of the saints." Revelation 19:6-8
The Director, I knew, represented our heavenly Father.
Main Themes:
Through my dream, I felt God was saying that the Bride is waking up, finding a reason to live, and that revival would come to all of the old familiar places. Yes, revival is coming in the usual places we go about in our everyday lives--our neighborhoods, our churches, our restaurants, our parks, our playgrounds, our malls, our cities. Everywhere. Anywhere. It's time.
We WILL see our King come with revival in all of the places that have grown dead over time.
Most of our "familiar places" have been shut down or radically changed over the past several months due to shut-downs. However, we must not fall asleep because God is coming! We must cling to the hope and truth that God is not done! There will be a new boldness that is arising in the Church as we find our voices, like Queen Esther. Out of this wilderness, God is preparing voices, like John the Baptist.
A voice of one calling: "Prepare the way for the LORD in the wilderness; make a straight highway for our God in the desert. - Isaiah 40:3
In many places, many are mandated to wear masks. When I walk around and see this, I can't help but feel like we have not only covered our faces, but we have covered our voices. Like Esther, we must not remain silent at this time.
On the Hebrew calendar, this is the year 5780 (2020). "Pey"is the Hebrew letter that means 80 which means MOUTH. That means it is the year of the MOUTH! What an unusual happening that we are required to wear masks during the year of the mouth! It is the time to give expression, or to keep silent in wisdom. Discernment is the key!
"...a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.…" - Ecclesiates 3:7-8
The Waking Bride
Children of Light - Ephesians 5:8-15
"For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light, for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth. Test and prove what pleases the Lord.
Have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for everything that is illuminated becomes a light itself.
So it is said:
“Wake up, O sleeper,
rise up from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”
Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
It is time for the Bride of Christ to AWAKEN. This passage from Ephesians 5 is a key Scripture in this season. We must test and prove what is GOOD, and discern what is not. We must walk in the light, for we are children of light. We must wake up, and Christ will shine on us! We must redeem the time, because the days are evil.
Deeper prophetic insight:
There is a term my high school theater teacher used anytime we performed a scene: "raise the stakes." What did this mean? It meant to act the scene as though it was life or death. Find out what your character wants, and what is at stake if they don't get it. This makes your scene come alive with honesty and passion.
In the blizzard scene, the Director helped Sleeping Beauty raise the stakes. She needed something to fight for. She was fighting for the hope that she would see her Prince again, in all of the familiar places they used to be together. This was her reason to keep living.
In this time, God is waking up His Sleeping Beauty, His Bride. She is shaking off apathy and finding a reason to fight again. Even in the middle of the winter storm that this season is, when everything seems barren, when we can't see the life that summer brings or autumn's harvest, the Bride is awakening. It's time for the Third Great Awakening.
Did the blizzard also represent the oppression of the church? Did it signify a coming increase of persecution? I'm not sure. I do know that everywhere there is persecution of Christians, the Church grows and thrives all the more.
What is the true cost of revival?
It is in the fires of persecution that the reality of God's fierce love for us becomes real. In the fire, we discover what really matters. In the fire, we only see His eyes of love burning for us.
The word "revive" comes from a root word that means "to kiss to life." In Sleeping Beauty, we know how she wakes up: a kiss from the Prince. This is her revival.
We need Jesus to come and revive His Bride! In the end, the story of Jesus is the tale of a Bridegroom returning for His Love. It's the most beautiful fairytale ever told.
"Will You not revive us again,
that Your people may rejoice in You?"
-Psalm 85:6
In conclusion:
These are both dark and exciting days we are in. We know Isaiah 60 says that even though a deep, gross darkness covers the earth, the glory of God will rise on us. There is much good to anticipate: spiritual awakening and revival in our families, communities, cities--and in the nations of the earth.
Remember, we all have a role to play in His story. This is your invitation to say yes and join in on the most exciting hour in history.
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. - Hebrews 12:2
Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus!
